Robert Murray McCheyne

By Basil Miller

Robert Murray McCheyne lived a short life from 1813 to 1841, but what his life lacked in quantity he more than made up for in quality. Few men have touched their world like McCheyne.

Basil Miller writes, “He traveled not far as an evangelist, nor heralded the story of salvation in nations beyond the confines of his native Britain. Yet Robert McCheyne grows in spiritual stature though he has been dead more than a century.”

Modern students of revival read McCheyne’s works and study his life with awe. McCheyne once prayed, “O grant that we, when sleeping in the dust, may thus speak forth the wisdom of the just.” God surely answered his prayer.
